"Father Candido was exorcising a handsome young man who was possessed by a great beast of a demon. Trying to discourage the exorcist, the demon said:"Can't you see that you are wasting your time? This one never prays. He goes around with ... and does..."and there followed a long list of ugly sins. At the end of the exorcism, Father Candido fruitlessly tried to convince that young man to make a general confession. It was necessary almost to drag him into the confessional, where he hastened to say that he had no sins to confess. Then Father Candido asked,"But did you not do this and such?" Dumbfounded, the poor man was forced to admit his transgressions. As the confessor continued with the list of sins, the young man admitted every one of the facts revealed by the demon. After receiving absolution, the young man left, mumbling, "I don't understand anything anymore! These priest know everything!"

Making the sign of the Cross to ward off evil

Back in the Philippines while visiting my in -laws ,

I saw an interesting practice. Upon leaving home,

the whole family, from the youngest to the oldest,

 made the sign of the cross reverently.

I now make the sign of the cross before taking my meals,

and also when I leave home for work.

This practice of making the sign of the cross is the grace of Jesus cross and not  magic formula. A reminder of how Jesus save us by dying on the cross for us.

"Let us, therefore, not be ashamed of the Cross of Christ; but though another hide it, do thou openly seal it upon thy forehead, that the devils may behold the royal sign and flee trembling far away.Make then this sign at eating and drinking, at sitting, at lying down, at rising up, at speaking, at walking: in a word, at every act." St Cyril Bishop of Jerusalem A.D. 386*

 Our battle is against the kingdom of darkness. The evil spirits and fallen angel's kingdom is like a raging sea surrounding us from all sides, threatening our salvation. Over the centuries, the experience of the Church confirms that the demon are not able to withstand the representation of the Cross and the sign of the cross.

Spirit from the Witching Hour-driven away by sign of the Cross

Travelling down from Malaysia ,at night, the guys started sharing their ghost stories as it was going to be a long journey. Mark said that he used to get up at 1 am every morning and when he looked at the clock it was always 1 am. He found this very weird. He had a grandmother who was a medium and wondered if the spirits that followed his grandmother could be haunting him.
While on a holiday in Australia, he decided to seek a gypsy woman for advice in regards to this weird waking up at 1 am in the morning.

The gypsy woman told him that 1 am to 3 am is not a good timing. It was the witching hour. She believes that something or someone from the world of the dead was trying to reach out to him. She said that if he wakes up at 1 am, he  must make the sign of the cross. That night he woke and it was 1 am,  he made the sign of the cross. Ever since that night he doesn't get up at 1 am. I joked with him that he could have got this advise for free from the catholic church.

Susan went to a restaurant  with her housemate Maria
(Maria has the gift of the third eye) to have lunch.
All was perfect , meal was great and Susan went to the
counter to make payment. At the counter, there was a black
small monkey- like statue.
While waiting for the cashier to hand over the bill, Susan kept staring at the statue, looking at it in detail as it was hard to look away from it. It was not a pretty statue as it looks like a well preserved mummified monkey. (According to Susan, the statue was never there before as she was a frequent customer.) Maria then came up to the counter and told Susan to look outside the restaurant. Bill was then paid and they left.

 In the car ride home, Susan asked Maria if she had seen what was placed on the counter. She said 'yes' and explained that it is 'alive and full of energy" and most likely placed there to bring business into the restaurant. Upon reaching home, Susan had a terrible headache and went to rest.  When Susan woke up, Maria told her that she heard strange sounds and went to check around the apartment.  She saw the creature pacing and making sounds at the front door. It made groaning and heaving-like sounds but was unable to enter the unit as there was a St. Michael picture and St Benedict cross on the front door. According to Maria, it seems to be there to ask a favor - to be released. But as Maria knows that it has a owner , she choose to ignore and went back to the bedroom. The sounds stooped shortly.
